Role of Officials
Officials
are an important part of every swim club. Without officials it would be
impossible to host a swim meet. See the "How
to
Earn Levy
Hours at a
Swim Meet" page
for details about
officiating positions, how many volunteers it takes to run a meet and
how you can earn your levy hours.
In order to
help out at swim meets, you must attend short clinics or take online
courses to
learn the various positions.
For
those of
you who want more information on the officiating system for swimming
and the different certification levels and requirements you can click
here.
New
swim parents: You
will start with the Level 1
Timekeepers course.
This course is a great introduction to what to expect at a swim
meet. Please note that you will also receive levy hours for
taking a
course!
Already
qualified and want to help out?
Check
the Officials Room at any
swim meet and volunteer your services.

Officials
and Clinics Registration Procedures 2011/2012
In
order to officiate at a swim meet or sign
up for an officials clinic, you must first be registered with the
Ontario Swimming Officials Association (OSOA) using their new online
account system. It
is very important that all club officials register online
as the
information is utilized to determine compliance with the Officials
Development Plan. Clubs need this approval
in order to
apply for a sanction to run a meet.
You
will use your OSOA
account for tracking all your completed officials clinics and deck
evalutions, as well as signing up for upcoming clinics.
Procedure:
- Go
to www.osoa.ca/web
- Click
the Register Now!
button, then click on
the Register
link and submit
the required information.
- Once
you
create your account, wait for an email to indicate that the EBSC
Officials Co-ordinator has approved your account (most accounts are
approved within 24
hours).
Officials Clinics Sign-up Procedure
Once you have an
approved OSOA account:
- Login at OSOA's Swim officials login page

-> Register for Clinics
- Make sure your province is SWIMON

Adding Past Clinics
If you have completed clinics prior to using this
new system
(prior to October 2011), you will need to add this information to your
OSOA account. Follow the Clinics
-> Add Past Clinic link to do so.
Adding Deck Evaluations
Follow the Evaluations
-> Add Deck Evaluation
link.
Online Clinics

link.

right
panel to register at: www.SwimmingOfficials.com/registration
