March 7, 2008-  With the short course season coming to an end we have compiled a list of the EBSC swimmers who have made the Canadian Power Rankings Top 50 in their age groups. This is quite an impressive list coming from a small swim club and we should be proud of the results the swimmers have achieved.  The Barrancudas have 5 swims ranked first, 3 second place rankings and 2 third place. There are 4 males who have earned rankings in a total of 7 events and 9 female swimmers ranked in a total of  61 events. Congratulations to all the swimmers making the lists.

March 22, 2008- Congatulations to Martin Blostein, Laura Perry, Stefan Ruksys, Michael Watkins, Rebecca Cronkwright and Amanda McCormack who have selected for special training Camps.
Amanda qualified as one of 4 female swimmers born in 1995 to represent Ontario at the
2008 Eastern Canadian Youth Tri Meet and Camp to be held May 7-11 at the University of Ottawa. The camp will include long course training with some of Canada's top coaches and athletes and will culminate in a meet between the three Eastern Canada areas represented at the meet- Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Provinces. See Swim Ontario article here.
The other five Barracudas were selected to attend an
EOSA Training Camp, March 28-30, for 13 and over swimmers who do not  have senior national times.
These camps include in water training sessions as well as classroom instruction and should be good building blocks going into the Long Course season.

March 26, 2008- Five Barracudas have qualified for the Olympic Swimming Trials to be held at the Olympic Pool in Montreal, April 1-6. Allie Duff, Amanda McCormack, Jess Craig, Pamela Ruksys and Elizabeth Wycliffe all met the tough qualifying standards in one or more events and will be vying for a spot on the Canadian Olympic Team travelling to Bejing in July. This will be a great opportunity for the girls to compete against Canada's very best swimmers. Elizabeth Wycliffe is ranked 2nd in Canada in the 200M LC backstroke and third in the 100M LC backstroke and has an excellent chance of securing a spot on the Olympic Squad. Good luck to all our swimmers!!!!
