August 22, 2006- Registration is being held for returning swimmers this Sat. August 26th between 9 and 11 at the JR Henderson Recreation Center.  You should have received your forms via email. Contact the registrar if you have any questions.

August 26, 2006- A one hour TV  broadcast of the Pan Pac Championship highlights will be televised today at 1:00pm on TSN.  The show will also be shown on TSN on Monday Sept. 11th at 3:30pm and Tuesday Sept. 12th at 4:30. This should show some very good racing as there were six world records and 32 Pan Pac records set during the meet. There are more opportunities to see the racing. Check the Swim Canada website for channels and times.

Sept. 14, 2006- Swim Canada has posted their 2005/2006 end of season Power Rankings for both short and long course. EBSC have 9 different swimmers ranked in the top 50 for their age group LONG COURSE. Amanda McCormack has 8 top 50 rankings in the 10 and Under Girls including two first places. Jess Craig made the top 50 in 3 different age groups- 16 years, 17 years and Open with a first place in the 17 year old Girls 200 backstroke. The other top 50 swimmers are Elizabeth Wycliffe- 4 events, Allie Duff- 2 events, Hannah Sutherland- 2 events, Ryan Coens- 2 events, Geoff Welham- 2 events, Leah Mayer- 1 event and Isaac Kong- 1 event. Congratulations on all your hard work during last season. EBSC swimmers rankings for Long Course.

Oct. 17, 2006- Andrew Moss a former Barracuda swimmer and coach has been presented with a Leadership Award from SNC for his work this past summer as Operations Director of the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships. Congratulation Andrew, from your old team!

Oct. 19, 2006- Congratulations to Adrienne Morgan for her first place in county x-country.

Oct. 22, 2006- The season finally got underway with the KSSC Pentathlon. The swimmers have been training very hard in less than ideal circumstances, swimming out of several pools while their home pool was under renovation. There were some very good times posted this early in the season. Barracuda swimmers brought home 22 firsts, 17 seconds, and 17 third place finishes. Kristin Buchanan had the second highest point total for females with 41 and Kristen Bilkovski had the third most points. On the boys side Stefan Ruksys was third highest with 45 points but the two ahead of him swam an extra event. Stefan had five first place finishes. Congratulations to everyone. Georgia Duff, Pamela Ruksys, Stefan Ruksys and Kristen Bilkovski finished in the top three in all five events. 

Nov. 6, 2006- The EBSC Swim Meet was a huge success! With the help of many, many volunteers the meet went off smoothly with lots of great swims. EBSC was the team winner and we had 5 of the high point winners- Allie Duff, Stefan Ruksys, Hannah Sutherland, Isaac Kong & Jess Craig. Second place in the point totals were- Georgia Duff and Kristin Buchanan and third place were- Kristen Bilkovski, Amanda McCormack, Jesse Thomas, Kaitlin Bilkovski and Geoff Welham. Nov. 16, 2006- Looking at the top ten times there have been some very good swims for this early in the season- 16 swims in total have cracked the top ten. Check out the Records Page for the updated lists.
 
Nov. 17, 2006- Barrie results are finally posted. Twenty-seven swimmers entered the three day Barrie meet and 4 Barracudas posted top 3 finishes- Jess Craig had one first and two seconds, Isaac Kong had 3 firsts, and 1 second, Pamela Ruksys had 2 seconds and 2 thirds and Hannah Sutherland had 1 first, 2 seconds and 3 thirds. Many others had top 6 finishes. Congratulations to all!

Nov. 18, 2006- New- Guide to Canadian University Swimming is now available on the Swim Canada website!

Dec. 4, 2006- Three swimmers represented the Barracudas at the Bell Grand Prix in Etobicoke Nov. 24-26- Jessika Craig, Pamela Ruksys and Elizabeth Wycliffe. Together the girls combined to place thirteenth of 69 teams in the Girls Team Standings. Jessika placed eighth in the 200M Backstroke and Elizabeth was first in the 200M Back, second in the 100M Back and 200M IM, third in the 100M IM and fourth in the 50M Back. Elizabeth placed third in the Female Point standings. All three should be congratulated for their efforts at this national quality meet.

Dec. 9, 2006- Youth Cup- Several Barracudas are competing at the NYAC Youth Cup this weekend in Toronto. After Friday night finals Jess Craig had a third place finish in the  200M back and Pamela Ruksys had an 8th place in the 100M fly and 11th in the 200M free. Competition continues through Sunday. Swimmers are also attending the Pickering Christmas Classic meet and results will be posted at the beginning of the week when they become available.

Dec. 10, 2006- Youth Cup- Three swimmers qualified for the consolation finals Sat. night. Jess Craig placed 9th in the 100M back, Pamela Ruksys placed 14th in the 400M free and Stefan Ruksys was 13th in the 200M breast stroke. Congratulation!!

Dec. 10, 2006- Jess Craig and Pamela Ruksys have been awarded a Ministry of Health's "Quest for Gold" award. For information about the program see Swim Ontario  Something to work towards!

Dec. 11, 2006- Youth Cup concluded on a high note with Pamela Ruksys earning a 4th place finish in the 400M IM, Kristin Buchanan a 15th in the 50M free and Amanda McCormack a 15th in the 50M back. Other swimmers attending this prestigious meet were: Leah Mayer, Allie Duff, Rebecca Conckwright, Jess Craig, Stefan Ruksys, Martin Blostein, Ryan Coens and Michael Watkins.

Dec. 11, 2006- Thirteen swimmers participated in the Pickering Christmas Classic this past weekend. Isaac Kong placed first in the 50M breaststroke & third in the 100M breast, Hannah Sutherland was first in the 100M fly, Georgia Duff was third in the 50M fly, Josh Vickers was third in the 200M & 400M breaststroke and Kristen Bilkovski place in the top six in five events. Congratulations!

Dec. 13, 2006-We are nearing the midway point of the short course season and 13 Barracudas have earned rankings on Swim Canada Power Rankings Top 50 Times in the country this season- Jess Craig has rankings in the 17 years & senior groups.

Dec. 14, 2006- Congratulations are due to Jess Craig on her selection to the 2007 Future University Stars Tour Team - Switzerland. Jess is one of four females chosen to represent Ontario. Jess will be swimming in Switzerland Jan. 24-29, 2007.

Dec. 17, 2006- Seventeen first & second year swimmers competed at the KBM Dual Meet Dec. 14th. This was the first opportunity for new swimmers to get their feet wet and see what competition is all about. Several now have that first dreaded DQ out of the way!

Dec. 21, 2006- EBSC held a Time Trial last evening in the distance events. Several of our swimmers acheived one or more provincial standards. These can be seen (far right) on the results sheet that Steve B has so quickly prepared for posting. Congratulations to the swimmers and thanks to the many parents who gave up one of their last chances to battle the Christmas shopping mobs.

Jan. 13, 2007- The Perth results have been posted from last weekend and the Barracudas had several top three finishes. Stefan Ruksys had 5 firsts and 1 second and Isaac Kong had 2 firsts, 2 seconds, a third and fourth to lead the team. Swimmers with top three place finishes are listed in the table below but several other swimmers had great swims earning them top 6 place finishes. Keep swimming fast!

Jan. 13, 2007- Jess Craig has won a gold medal at the Senior Provincial Short Course Championships being held in Toronto this weekend. Jess was second in the 200M Backstroke after the prelims and moved up to first in the finals with a time of 2:14.66. Pamela Ruksys placed in 4th the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.02. She was also 14th in the 100M Fly. Other Barracudas attending this meet are Rebecca Cronkwright, Michael Watkins and Geoff Welham. Jess is seeded seventh in the 200M Backstroke final and Pam is seeded 4th in the 400M IM and 14th in the 100M Backstroke finals which will be contested tomorrow.

Jan. 14, 2007- Jess Craig added a second gold medal to her collection at the Senior Provincials today. Jess finished the race in a time of 1:04.35. Jess will be representing the Barracudas as a member of the Senior Provincial Tour Team competing Jan 25-28 in Switzerland. Best of Luck! Pamela Ruksys placed seventh in the 400M IM in a time of 5:03.51. Pam also raced in the consolation final of the 100M backstroke finishing 12th and earning a fifth place spot on the club's Senior Girls Top Ten list.

Jan. 15, 2007- Best of luck to Jess Craig as she gets ready to participate in the 2007 Future Stars Tour Team - Switzerland. Jess is one of four females chosen to represent Ontario and will be travelling to Switzerland Jan. 23-29, 2007. If you haven't signed the guest book on our home page, you can wish Jess well and hopefully she will have the opportunity to keep us posted about all the fun and great swims she has in Switzerland.

Jan. 24, 2007- I just received an article that was in Friday Jan. 19th County Weekly News about Jess. See article here that the County Weekly News has allowed us to reproduce. Also Jess has agreed to try to send us journal entries if she can. Watch the link on the home page for updates about her experience in Switzerland.

Jan. 27, 2007- Jess is seeded first going into tonights final in the 200M backstroke in Switzerland. With a time of 2:15.59 Jess has left herself room to improve in tonights race. Best of luck Jess!

Jan. 28, 2007- Jess has added a bronze medal in the 100M back as well as a silver in a relay event. All in all a very good meet. Congratulations! Jess has kindly shared her experience with us in this journal.

Jan. 29, 2007- The results are up for the KSSC swim meet. I started to tally everyone's first, second and third places finishes and there were just TOO many. Let's just say that over all the club had an excellent showing. Some statistics: 47 swimmers competed in one to six events for a total of 212 swims. There were 103 top three finishes- an excellent effort! Thirty-four swimmers earned these top three placings. As a team, 1036 points were earned for first place over all, and both the Girls and the Boys teams won their respective division. I also heard that several more swimmers have earned either provincial times or prerequisite times. Congratulations on a great team effort, hope you all had fun! Feb. 10, 2007- Some promising early results are up from the EOSA short course championships being held in Nepean this weekend. After the distance freestyle and the first session of 12 and under finals: Georgia Duff has placed first in the 10 & under 100M backstroke, Kristin Buchanan has second in the 100M free, Amanda McCormack has second in the 100M back and third in the 100M free, and Leah Mayer was third in the 11/12 800M free. The 13 and overs will swim finals tonight.

Feb. 10, 2007- The Barracudas scored five firsts, a second and a third in 12 & under individual events today at EOSA. Leading the way was Kristin Buchanan with first in the 50M back and 50M free, Georgia Duff- first in 50M back, Amanda McCormack- first in 200M back, Kristen Bilkovski- first in 50M free and Isaac Kong- second in 50M back and third in the 100M fly. The Barracudas currently sit in fourth place. In the 13 & over age group Jess Craig led the way with a first place finish in the 400M free and a third place in the 200M IM, Martin Blostein was first in the 100M breaststroke, Poppy Ruksys was first in the 200M back and second in the 800M free. Allie Duff was second in the 200M back. Competition concludes tomorrow.

Feb. 11, 2007- The 12 & under age group had one first, one second and 4 thirds this afternoon. Leading the way was Isaac Kong with a first in the 100M IM and a third in the 50M fly. Georgia Duff swam to a second place finish in ghe 100M IM, Kristin Buchanan was third in the 50M fly, Amanda McCormack was third in the 200M free and Kristen Bilkovski was third in the 100M IM.  The meet closed tonight with several Barracudas placing in the top three. Leading the way was Poppy Ruksys with wins in the 200M & 50M breast stroke and 200M fly. She also placed third in the 50M fly. Kaitlin Bilkovski was first in the 50M fly, Ryan Coens was second in the 50M fly, Martin Blostein placed second in the 200M breast stroke, Rebecca Cronkwright was second in the 100M back, Tara Worthy took silver in the 50M breast stroke and Allie Duff had thirds in the 100M back and 50M fly. Congratulations to all the swimmers attending EOSA. As a team the 35 Barracudas attending the meet combined to place third overall out of 21 teams.

Feb. 13, 2007- Poppy Ruksys set club records at EOSA short course champs last weekend in the 50M breast stroke and the 200M breast stroke. Congratulations!!!

Feb. 18, 2007- Poppy Ruksys and Jess Craig attended the Eastern Canadian Championships this weekend. This is a meet where the top Canadian swimmers in Eastern and Western Canada compete at meets held in Montreal and Regina (this year). The results are combined for national winners in each event. Poppy swam to 11th in the 200IM (15th overall), and 6th in the 400IM (10th overall). She also competed in the 50 Fly, 400 Free and  200 Free. Jess Craig was 6th in the 200 back (7th overall), 7th in the 100 Back (10th overall) and 8th in the 50M Back (12th overall). Jess also swam the 200 Free.

Feb. 21, 2007- The Ruksys family has shared a granola bar recipe which is easy to make and nutritious. Happy snacking!

Feb. 26, 2007- Eight Barracudas are travelling to Etobicoke to compete in the Jr. Provincial Championships. Competition begins Thurs and runs through Sun. Amanda McCormack, Hannah Sutherland, Kristin Buchanan, Leah Mayer, Allie Duff, Rebecca Cronkwright, Poppy Ruksys, and Michael Watkins made the tough qualifying standards in one or more events. Best of luck to all the swimmers!

Mar. 1, 2007- Day 1- Amanda McCormack won silver in the Girls-11, 100M backstroke in a time of 1:11.29. Also competing today were Hannah Sutherland, Kristin Buchanan, Leah Mayer, Allie Duff and Rebecca Cronkwright. Good luck to everyone!

Mar. 2, 2007- Day 2- Poppy swam to a 4th place prelim swim this morning in the 400M IM and will swim the final tonight. Good luck Poppy! Allie Duff swam the 400M IM, Rebecca Cronkwright competed in the 50M free, Michael Watkins raced the 100M fly and Poppy also swam the 200M free to round out the morning competition.
In the younger age groups Amanda McCormack finished 6th in the 200M free and 10th in the 400M IM, Kristin Buchanan also had a 6th place finish in the 50M free. Also swimming this afternoon was Leah Mayer in the 200M free.

Mar. 2, 2007- Day 2- Poppy remained in 4th place after the 400IM final tonight swimming a time of 4:59.09. Congrats! Swimming continues tomorrow and Sunday in Etobicoke.

Mar. 3, 2007- Day 3- Amanda finished 4th in the 100M free and 15th in the 200M IM, Hannah placed 15th in the 200M fly, Allie was 8th in the 200M back and Poppy swam to a 13th place finish in the 200M back. Also competing today were Leah, Kristin and Rebecca. Several personal best times were posted during prelims and finals!

Mar. 4, 2007- Day 4- Four Barracudas competed today at Jr Provincials. Amanda McCormack won gold in the 200M back in a time of 2:30.65. This time was equal to the existing club record set by Genevieve Handforth in 2000. Congratulations Amanda! Also swimming today were Leah Mayer, Allie Duff, and Michael Watkins.

Mar. 5, 2007- Twenty-six swimmers took part in the KBM Invitational this past weekend. The team placed third overall behind two larger teams. High female scorer for the Barracuda's was Jennifer Locke with 27 points. Stefan Ruksys was the Barracuda's highest scoring male swimmer with 30 points. More than half of the swimmers had at least one top three result over the three day meet. Congratulations to all of those participating.

Mar. 16, 2007- Amanda McCormack has been selected KTW althete of the week. This is the second time a Barracuda has received this honour. In February Poppy Ruksys was also selected as an athlete of the week. Congratulations! The article appearing in Kingston This Week is can be read here.

Mar. 20, 2007- Jess Craig and Poppy Ruksys are ready to compete at the Spring National Meet starting tomorrow in Victoria, BC. They will be joined by Elizabeth Wycliffe. See article submitted to Whig Standard for details here.

Mar. 23, 2007- Elizabeth Wycliffe swam to a first place seeding for tonights final in the 100M backstroke and is also seeded 7th in the 200M freestyle. Poppy Ruksys finished 26th in the 200M IM today and Jess Craig placed 22nd in the 100M back. In competition yesterday Poppy was 24th in the 400M IM and Elizabeth finished 15th in the 100M fly during prelims. This meet is being used to select the Pan Am and University Games teams that will represent Canada this summer.

Mar. 23, 2007- Elizabeth is having an amazing meet so far at spring nationals! She is Canadian Champion in the 100M backstroke having won the event in a club record time of 1:02.61 lowering the record that she set in prelims this morning. Elizabeth finished 8th in the 200M freestyle. Elizabeth set the 200M free club record this morning taking off over 2 seconds. Yesterday her 100M fly swim was also a club record. Congratulations Elizabeth and good luck to all our swimmers in their remaining events. Swimming continues Sat. & Sun. and the National teams should be announced shortly after completion of the meet.

Mar. 25, 2007- Elizabeth, Poppy and Jessica were in action again today after all three girls had the day off yesterday. Elizabeth was seeded first in the 200M Backstroke after this mornings prelims and raced to a second National title in a club record time of 2:14.36 this evening. This is Elizabeth's fourth club record at the meet. Jess also swimming the 200M back, placed 13th in the prelims and finished 13th again tonight in a time of 2:20.31. Poppy swam the 100M free this morning and took .45 off her entry time. The Barracudas finished 13th in a field of 61 teams. Congratulations all!

Mar. 26, 2007- Poppy Ruksys set a club record in the 400IM at Spring Nationals this past weekend. Poppy lowered Elizabeth's record by .84 seconds swimming the event in 5:11.16. Congratulations!

Mar. 30, 2007- Amanda is in the running for KTW Athlete of the Month after having been selected for Athlete of the Week in March. You can vote once/day/computer until noon April 9th, so vote often. The poll is located about 1/3 of the way down the right hand column of the page. It would be nice to have our swimmer win this honour.

April 1, 2007- EBSC, sponsored by Aquatica Pools, had great results at their spring meet yesterday. Kristen Bilkovski and Allie Duff both walked away first place finishes in each of their swims.  Poppy Ruksys, Jessika Craig, Ryan Coens, Stefan Ruksys and Amanda McCormack came first in 3 of their swims. Isaac Kong, Jesse Thomas, Mike Watkins, Geoff Welham, Rebecca Cronkwright, Martin Blostein and Hannah Sutherland all took home 2 firsts. Leah Mayer had 1 first and 2 seconds, Robin Pianosi, Kristin Buchanan,
Laura Perry, Andras Switzer all had 1 first, 2 seconds and Emily Welham
had one first, one second. Many of the swimmers posted personal bests. Congratulations and best of luck in the upcoming Team Champs in Sudbury.

May 1, 2007- The Barracudas competed in the Division II Team Championships April 20-22 and finished 9th in a field of 18 teams. Poppy finished 8th in the female top point earners and Amanda was 10th. Martin and Michael were to top point earners for the males. Congratulations to the 30 member team for a fine showing. Swimmers with first, second and third place finishes are listed below.

May 14, 2007- Amanda McCormack & Leah Mayer both set club records this weekend in Nepean! Amanda set two new long course club records for Girls 11/12 in the 400 free and the 200 back. Amanda took just over 1 second off the record Allie Duff set last June in the 400M free and over 3.5 seconds off the 200M backstroke record set by Genevieve Handforth in 2000.  Leah set a new long course record in the Girls 11/12 1500M free.  Congratulations!

May 29, 2007- Pamela Ruksys is one of two Ontario swimmers to earn a Swim Ontario Training Bursary for the 2007-2008 swim season. Congratulations Pamela! For more info see article on Swim Ontario site.

June 3, 2007- Elizabeth Wycliffe won gold in the 100M & 200M backstroke events at the Mel Zajac/Bell Grand Prix this past weekend in Vancouver, BC. She was also 4th in the 200M IM & 50M backstroke as well as 7th in the 400M IM. Congratulations on a great weekend in the pool.

June 11, 2007- The Barracudas finished 4th overall at EOSA Long Course Championships this past weekend in Nepean. The team was lead by  Amanda McCormack in the 12 and under group with 3 firsts, 2 seconds and a third. Also earning medals in the younger group was Hannah Sutherland with 1 first. Pamela Ruksys lead the way in the 13 and over group with 4 firsts and a third. Pamela was also High Point winner for Senior Girls at the meet. Also picking up hardware were Geoff Welham- 1 second & 1 third, Allie Duff- 2 firsts and a third, Ryan Coens- 1 second, Jess Craig- 1 first and 1 third, Leah Mayer- 1 third and Rebecca Cronkwright with 1 second.  Isaac Kong, Tara Worthy, Stefan Ruksys, Josh Vickers, Laura Perry, Kaitlin Bilkovski, Michael Watkins, Martin Blostein and Jesse Thomas all had top eight place finishes.
Four club records were set over the weekend: Amanda set records in the 400M free and 200M free in the Girls 11/12 age group, Leah Mayer established a club record for 13/14 Girls in the 1500M free and Pamela Ruksys set a new record for Senior Girls in the 400M IM. Congratulations! see records page for details.

June 12, 2007- The EBSC awards banquet was held June 11th at Edith Rankin Church in Collins Bay. Awards were given out to many deserving swimmers: see Awards page for details. Everyone had lots to eat as usual and then were entertained by the swimmers (and coaches). Some pictures are posted on the Photos page. Many thanks to all who helped set up and clean up afterwards.

June 14, 2007- Stefan Ruksys established a club record in the Senior Boys 800M Free last weekend at EOSA with a time of 9:44.74. Congratulations Stefan!

June 19, 2007- Jess Craig has provided us with a copy of her banquet speech for those of you who missed the banquet. Many thanks Jess and good luck next year! Hopefully one or two more speeches will arrive as well.

June 30, 2007- Jess Craig and Elizabeth Wycliffe are representing the Barracudas at the Bell Grand Prix in Montreal this weekend. This national level meet brings together the best swimmers in Canada and is a tune-up for the National teams heading into summer competition. Jess made B finals last night in the 100M back finishing 12th and Elizabeth made two A finals finishing 4th in the 200IM and 10th in the 200M free. Competition continues today and tomorrow.

July 2, 2007- Competition ended yesterday at the Bell Grand Prix in Montreal with more great finishes for Jess and Elizabeth. On Saturday both Barracudas earned medals in the 200M backstroke. Elizabeth placed first and Jess was third. On Sunday Elizabeth had a second in the 50M backstroke and a 10th in the 100M freestyle. This meet was a tune-up for Elizabeth heading to the Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil July 16-22. Congratulations to both swimmers on some great results this weekend and best of luck to Elizabeth in Brazil.

July 5, 2007- Nine Barracudas are attending the Junior Provincial Championships this weekend in Nepean. Kristin Buchanan, Ryan Coens, Rebecca Cronkwright, Allie Duff, Leah Mayer, Amanda McCormack, Pamela Ruksys, Hannah Sutherland and Michael Watkins will all be competing against the best swimmers in Ontario. Best of luck!!!

July 5, 2007- Provincials Day 1- The Barracudas are off to a great start at Provincials today. Amanda won a gold medal in her first event, placing first in the 11 year old girls 100M backstroke setting a new club record with a time of 1:10.64. This was almost 2 seconds off the previous record. Hannah had a 6th place finish in the 11 year old girls 100M fly. In the older age group Allie had a 4th place in the 100M back, Ryan was 16th and 24th in the 50M free and 200M free, Rebecca was 16th in the 100M back, Pamela was 7th in the 100M fly and 10th in the 100M back. Competition continues through Sunday.

July 6, 2007- Provincials Day 2-  finished with Pamela winning silver in the 400M IM and setting a new club record. She was also 11th in the 200M free. Amanda earned a bronze medal swimming to a third place finish in the 400M IM and also placed 5th in the 200M free. Allie had a 14th place finish in the 400M IM. Hannah placed 13th in the 800M free. The Barracudas are currently in 27th place in team scoring after event #17.

July 7, 2007- Provincials Day 3- Amanda earned her third medal and second gold today in the 200M IM. Hannah swimming in the same age group placed 6th in the 200M fly and 15th in the 100M free. Allie finished earned a bronze medal in the 200M backstroke. Pamela finished 10th in the 200M fly this evening. Congratulations on some fine results!

July 8, 2007- Provincials Day 4- Amanda earned a third gold medal, in the 200M backstroke, with a club record time of 2:32.42. She also finished in 4th place in the 400M free, setting another new club record. Pamela finished second in the 200M IM in finals tonight and Allie finished 5th in the 200M IM and 14th(after prelims, finals not coming up) in the 400M free. The Barracudas had a very good weekend winning 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals and setting 4 new club records.  Congratulations to all the swimmers this weekend.

July 12, 2007- Leah Mayer and Coach Trish competed in the Ontario Open Water Championships yesterday in Brampton's Professors Lake in windy wavey conditions. Leah finished 16th and Coach Trish finished 21st in the Women's 5km swim. Congratulations!

July 17, 2007- Seven Barracudas are heading to Montreal this weekend to compete at the Age Group National Championships. Ryan Coen, Jess Craig, Rebecca Cronkwright, Allie Duff, Amanda McCormack, Laura Perry and Pamela Ruksys have all qualified for this meet that brings the best Age Group swimmers in Canada together to compete at an outdoor meet. Racing starts Thursday and continues through Sunday. Best of luck to all our swimmers.

July 18, 2007- Elizabeth Wycliffe representing Canadan and the Barracudas is seeded second going into the finals of the 100M backstroke at the Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The final will be contested Thursday morning. Elizabeth lowered her club record in the semi-final this morning swimming a 1:02.49. Best of luck tomorrow!

July 19, 2007- Congratulations to Elizabeth who won the bronze medal this morning at the Pan Am Games.  Elizabeth once again lowered the club record to 1:02.46. Elizabeth will be contesting the 200M back Friday. Good Luck

July 19, 2007- The Barracudas had a great start at the Age Group National Championships being held in Montreal. Both Amanda McCormack (12 & under age group) and Pamela Ruksys (15-18 year age group) placed 5th in the finals. Amanda swimming in the 50M backstroke swam a personal best 34.06 and Pamela competing in the 200M IM swam the race in 2:23.67, also a personal best. Laura Perry was 11th in the 13 year old 50M backstroke and Allie Duff finished 12th in the 13 year old 200M IM.  Watch for more great swims as action continues tomorrow through Sunday.

July 20, 2007- Jess Craig and Amanda McCormack both placed 4th in their respective 100M backstoke finals tonight. Allie Duff placed 12th in the 100M backstroke, Laura Perry was 20th in the 100M backstroke and Pamela Ruksys was 20th in the 400M free. Also competing today were Ryan Coens and Rebecca Cronkwright. Go Barracudas, Go!!!!

July 20, 2007- Elizabeth Wycliffe contested the 200M backstroke today in Brazil. She swam the second fasted time tonight in the preliminary rounds in a club record time of 2:13.41. Best of luck in the semis tomorrow morning!

July 21. 2007- Elizabeth had another great swim this morning finishing the 200M backstroke semi-final in second place overall, lowering her club record for the second day in a row to 2:12.86. Elizabeth was only .11 behind the winner of the other semi and it should be an exciting final tomorrow morning.

July 21, 2007- Jess Craig and Amanda McCormack both finished 4th tonight in the 200M backstroke in their respective age groups. Congratulations and best of luck to everyone in their swims tomorrow!

July 22, 2007- Elizabeth swam to a second bronze medal finish today at the Pan Am Games in the 200M backstroke (2:13.29), swimming slightly slower than her club record semi-final swim yesterday. Elizabeth also lead off the 4 x 100 medley relay team this morning that won the silver medal. She swam a club record time of 1:02.35 to cap off a great week of racing. Congratulations on representing the Barracudas so well!

July 22, 2007- Pamela finished 4th in the 400M IM tonight at Age Group Nationals to wind up a very good meet for the Barracudas.  The final tally was 5 fouth place finishes and 2 fifth place finishes as well as several other top 16 place finishes. Amanda was 5th in the 50M back, and fourth in both the 100M & 200M backs. Jess Craig was fourth in both the 100M & 200M backs and Pamela was fourth in the 400M IM and fifth in the 200M IM. There were some great swims that happened with everyone, plus EBSC fielded their first National relay team- Girls 15-18, 4 x 100 Medley Relay.  Thanks to Lucia for providing meet details.

July 26, 2007- Elizabeth Wycliffe won the bronze medal in the 100M backstroke tonight at Senior Nationals being held in Calgary this weekend. Jess Craig the only other Barracuda attending this meet was 15th in the same event. Competition continues through Sunday.

July 27, 2007- Elizabeth had a great 400M IM final today at Senior Nationals, winning the silver medal and setting a new club record. Both Jess and Elizabeth contest the 200M backstroke tomorrow and Jess will compete in the 50M back as well. Good Luck!

July 28, 2007- Elizabeth won the 200M backstroke at Senior Nationals and Jess was seventh. Jess also placed 16th in the 50M backstroke.

July 29, 2007- Elizabeth concludes Nationals with a 9th place finish in the 200M IM. This was the last meet of the season. Enjoy the rest of the summer and see you all in September.
