July 25, 2010- The swimmers had a quiet day Saturday at AGN. The best result was Amanda's 9th place finishe in the 200M free. The competition concludes today. Best wishes!

July 24, 2010- The Barracudas continue to swim well at AGN championships in Winnipeg. After day 3 the swimmers have a total of 3 fourth place finishes, 1 fifth, and 2 sixth places and stand 69th of 85 teams.
July 22, 2010- The Barracudas are off to a good start in Winnipeg as the Age Group Nationals competition gets under way. Amanda had a 5th place in the 1500M free and a 12th in the 200M back, Stefan placed 6th in the 1500M free, Hannah was 13th in the 100M fly and 19th in the 200M back, Brianna captured 15th in the 100M fly and Laura was 54th in the 200M back. July 18, 2010- Six Barracudas have qualified for Age Group Nationals in Winnipeg this coming weekend. Stefan Ruksys, Hannah Sutherland, Amanda McCormack, Brianna Coens, Emanuelle Delaney and Laura Perry all met the tough qualifying standards and will test themselves against the best young swimmers from across the country. Watch for results.
July 18, 2010-The Napanee Guide has a feature article about Allie Duff. Congratulations Allie and best wishes for a great meet in Victoria.
July 9, 2010- Stefan Ruksys swam to a bronze medal in his first open water swim at the Ontario Open water swim championships in the 5 km open male category.
Also racing the 5 km in open women were former EBSC members Leah Mayer who placed 7th and Pamela Ruksys who placed first also in her first open water event.
July 5, 2010- It was lonely at the Canada Cup to be there without a coach or team mates, but Stefan Ruksys did well regardless. The national level competition which included U.S. Olympians Elizabeth Beisel, Peter Vanderkaay, and Emily Bruneman as well as Canadian Olympians Colin Russell, Richard Hortness, Tobias Oriwol was help at the Olympic Park pool in Montreal.
Stefan finished 18th in both his 800 ( 8:48) and 1500 (16:42:65) doing best times and breaking his previous club records.
July 5, 2010- Junior Provincials wrapped up yesterday with two more medals for the Barracudas. Allie Duff earned a gold medal and Amanda McCormack came home with a silver. Amanda also had a 4th place finish, Hannah Sutherland finished 12th, & 17th and Jesse Thomas had a 16th place. Age Group and Senior Nationals are later this month to wrap the season. Congratulations on all the fine swimms and good luck to those heading to Winnipeg and Victoria.
July 4, 2010- Congratulations on winning four more provincial medals. Allie Duff earned a gold and bronze, and Amanda McCormack and Hannah Sutherland each picked up silver medals. Other finishes were Jesse Thomas, 14 & 40th, Hannah 8th, Amanda 4th & 5th, Allie had a 7th and Brianna Coens placed 13, 16 & 28th. Carolyn Poucher also swam in three freestyle events. The meet wraps up today.
July 2, 2010- The Barracudas are off to a good start at the Junior Provincial Championships being held in Nepean this weekend. Amanda McCormack earned a silver medal in the 100M backstroke and Allie Duff had a bronze in the same event. Other finishes on day 1 were Hannah Sutherland 5 & 7, Brianna Coens- 8th and Carolyn Pouch had an 11th place finish. More results will be posted Sunday or check out the hyteck results here.

June 10, 2010- The annual Barracuda Awards Banquet was held on Tuesday June 8th. There was lots of good food, the swimmers prepared skits for everyone's entertainment and the swimmers and coaches' dedication and acheivement was recognized. Senior swimmers Stefan Ruksys (University of Ottawa) and Martin Blostein ( U of T) gave their farewell speeches and will be off to university ing the fall. Best Wishes! Allie Duff and Amanda McCormack were presented with EOSA performance awards. A list of this year's award winners can be found in the awards section of the website. Hopefully pictures will be posted soon. Congratulations to this year's recipients.
June 7, 2010- The Barracudas wrapped up the EOSA championships with three more gold for a total of 12. The gold medalists included Carolyn Poucher, Stefan Ruksys, Allie Duff, Hannah Sutherland, Brianna Coens, and Ryan Hu. The team also had a total of 19 silver and 11 bronze. June 6, 2010- More good results for the Barracudas. The swimmers finished Day 2 with 4 more golds, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
June 5, 2010- Thirty-one Barracudas are competing in Nepean this weekend at the EOSA Long Course Championships. After the first day, the swimmers have earned 3 gold, 6 silver and5 bronze medals.
June 2, 2010- The season wrapped up for some of the Barracudas this past weekend with the KSSC meet. This meet included the Junior swimmers and the team had many first place finishers. Jeff Brock, Evynn Cota, Camille Cota, Hannaha Cota, Sophie Smith, Ryan Hu, Tina Cai, Jaycee Farmer, Savanah Thibeault, Chad Coleman, Madison Edgar, Courtney Buchanan, Carolyn Poucher, Megan Dowling, Sara Daigle, Danae Morris, Emanuella Delaney and Jesse Thomas all had at least one first place finish. May 19, 2010-Emily Welham has registered with EBSC and will be competing for us at EOSA. She is a first year Brock U swimmer. Welcome back Emily. May 9, 2010- It was a spring banquet of medals for Ernestown Barracuda swimmers at the Nepean Sportsplex, at the Nepean Kanata Festival of Spring swim meet.
14 year old Amanda McCormack brought home a bouquet of gold medals, with one silver. She had 6 first place finishes, including the 800, 400 and 200M freestyle. 16 year old Allie Duff came home with two golds, two silvers and a bronze...14 year old Hannah Sutherland brought home 2 golds, and 2 silvers. 18 year old Stefan Ruksys took a gold in the 800 M freestyle, and 4 silvers with one bronze to round out his collection. 15 year old Jesse Thomas swam to one gold medal, 2 silvers and 2 bronze. Thomas did achieve a provincial time in the 100 M Backstroke. 12 year old Carolyn Poucher had 2 silvers and 3 bronze medals to take home, including a 3rd place finish in the 800M Freestyle.
Others EBSC swimmers who came home with medals include 12 year old Courtney Buchanan with a silver and a bronze medal, 17 year old Martin Blostein with 2 bronze medals in the 100 and 200 M Breaststroke, 13 year old Brianna Coens with a silver in the 100 Butterfly, and 12 year old Chad Coleman with a bronze in the 100 Butterfly.
EBSC swimmers will be back in Nepean for Eastern Ontario Regionals early
in June.
April 27, 2010- Amanda McCormack and Hannah Sutherland have been selected to represent Eastern Ontario in the Ontario Summer Games this August. Amanda will swim in the 15 year old girls division, Hannah in the 14 year olds. Kristin Buchanan was selected as an alternate in the girls 16 year old division. Also representing EBSC will be Alison Doherty as an assistant coach. Well done Barracudas, this should be a great experience for all!!!
April 21, 2010- An exciting weekend for the Ernestown Barracudas this weekend. The swim team was at Divisions II Team Championships at the Wayne Gretzky Aquatic
Complex in Brantford. Joining the Barracuda's were 18 other swim teams from across Ontario. This is the one swim meet of the season where swimmers are trying to end up in the top 8 finishes of each race, to collect points for their swim team. Each team can only bring 30 swimmers.
The most exciting events are always the team relays, where the capacity crowd is on their feet, cheering the teams on. EBSC's relay teams did exceptionally well, with the girls 13/14 team of Amanda McCormack, Hannah Sutherland, Kristen Bilkovski on both teams, and Briana Coens and Robin Pianosi joining them finished first, with the Medlay relay in a come from behind finish in the last 10 meters. They also placed first in the 200 freestyle relay. The girls 15 and over team also did well, coming in second in both the 200 free relay and the Medley relay.
Barracuda swimmers that medaled in each of their 5 swims include 14 year old Amanda McCormack, with 4 gold finishes and one silver finish. 16 year old Allie Duff came home with 3 gold medals, and one each of silver and bronze. 10 year old Vanessa Gervais had 1 gold, 2 silvers, and 2 bronze finishes, and 14 year old Hannah Sutherland swam to 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze finishes.
18 year old Stefan Ruksys had 2 gold medals, including a personal best time in the 1500 M freestyle race, 2 silver medals and a 6th place finish in the 200 fly. All points for the team.
Other medal winners included 12 year old Courtney Buchanan with a gold and silver medal, both in breaststroke. Briana Coens a silver place finish in the 200 butterfly.
In the end, the Barracuda's placed 9th out of 19 teams. KBM placed 10th.
April 16, 2010- The EBSC Division II team is competing in Brantford today, Saturday and Sunday. The 30 member team will compete as a team at this meet trying to score enough points to move up the Division II ranks. Click here to see the swimmers who qualified to represent the Barracudas. April 6, 2010- Although the Pan Pacific Swimming championships aren't on the horizon
for Ernestown Barracuda Swimmer Allie Duff, she did give other Canadian
elite swimmers a run for their position. 16 year old Duff, seeded 35th
in the 200 M Backstroke, before the race on Saturday, ended up in a B
Final, and in 16th place overall. Duff also competed in the 100 M
Backstroke, the 200 and 400 IM. Jessika Craig, another EBSC
graduate was also there, swimming for the University of Calgary
March 16, 2010- Former Barracuda Pamela Ruksys has been named to the Charlotte UltraSwim High Performance Toru Team. See Swim Ontario article.
March 4, 2010- Better late than never.... Last weekend 6 Barracudas travelled to Etobicoke to compete in the Junior Provinical Championships. Martin Blostein, Abby and Hannah Sutherland, Brianna Coens, Allie Duff and Amanda McCormack all met the stringent qualifying times and represented the club well. The highlight of the meet was Allie's Bronze medal swim int the 200M backstroke. Other A Finalists were Amanda- 4th in 400 free and 5th in the 100 back and Hannah, 4th in the 200 fly. Congatulations!
March 1, 2010- The Barracudas competed this past weekend at the KBM hosted Short Course Finale. This was the last meet until our EBSC Spring meet in early April. The following swimmers had top eight finished in one or more events. Well done!

February 21, 2010- Former Barracuda Pamela(Poppy) Ruksys swam to two silvers and a bronze medal at the Canadian Inter-University Sport Swimming Championships, Toronto, Feb. 18-20th. Poppy, swimming for the University of Toronto, won silver medals swimming to best times - 4:12 in the 400 free, and 8:38 in the 800 free, coming a close second to University of Calgary’s and Canadian National team member Kevyn Peterson.
Pamela placed fourth in the 400 Individual Medley with a personal best of 4:47 and 7th in the 200 free also with a pb of 2:01. Poppy also anchored the University of Toronto’s 800 freestyle relay team to earn the bronze medal closely defeating rivals University of Western Ontario.
Jessika Craig won the silver medal for the University of Calgary in the 200 back in 2:11, second to National team member Katy Murdoch. She also came 6th in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.

February 11, 2010- The JR Henderson Recreation Centre was host to EOSSAA swimming today as swimmers from the Eastern Ontario Region competed to represent their schools at OFSSA the provincial level of high school competition. Six Barracudas represented several of the area high schools and all seven have advanced to the provincial meet. Congratulations to Jess Thomas, Amanda McCormack, Allie Duff, Laura Perry, Stefan Ruksys and Kristin Bubhanan. Hannah Sutherland also qualified for the meet but unfortunately was ill and not able to attend. Sara Cond Flower, a former swimmer was meet manager, and long time Barracuda dad, Dan Clissold was meet referee.
February 3, 2010- Former Barracuda Pamela Ruksys has been nominated for a Quest for Gold Card, which provides financial assistance Ontario's top athletes. Pamela was one of 14 females to earn this award. For more information can be found on the Swim Ontario site.
Februrary 1, 2010- Another EBSC meet in the books. Many of our swimmers placed in the top 5 and gained some valuable experience leading into EOSA Championships being held in Nepean Feb. 12-14.

December 12, 2009- Stefan Ruksys has had a great start to the 2009/2010 season, setting three new club records in the distance freestyle events. New times of 4:16.60 in the 400M free, 8:50.44 in the 800M free and 16:48.38 in the 1500M free are the latest times to beat. Congratulations Stefan!

December 6, 2009- Eleven Barracudas attended Youth Cup in Etobicoke this weekend while the rest of the club swam at the KBM meet in kingston. The contingent at Youth cup had some very good swims. Brianna Coens had a 5th in the 100 fly and a 6th in the 200 Fly, Amanda placed 4th in the 400 IM and 3rd in the 200 Back, while Hannah earned a third in the 200 fly. Allie had a 1st in the 400 IM, a second in the 200 back and a 3rd in the 100 back. On the boys side Stefan placed 6th in the 1500 free, 7th in the 100 fly, 8th in the 800 free and 8th in the 50 fly and Ryan Coens had a 6th place finish in the 50 fly. Well done! November 29, 2009- Allie Duff and Amanda McCormack had the opportunity to swim against some of the best swimmers in Canada this weekend in Etobicoke. They competed at the Canada Cup meet where several Olympians including bronze medalist Ryan Cochrane tested their training in an early season high level meet. Although neither swimmer made finals they gained valuable experience. Allie had a 20th place finish in the 200M back and a very respectable 31st place finish in the 400M IM. Next weekend several Barracudas with contend at the Youth Cup meet also hosted in Etobicoke. Congrats to all who made the qualifying times.

November 12, 2009- Congratulations to Coach Gord and Amanda McCormack on Amanda's selection to Swim Canada's Prospects Team. This selection was based on Swim Canada's 2009 LC rankings.
